Education Service Update

For many years United Utilities has provided a variety of education services to North West schools, ranging from the water cycle to climate change, for pupils of all ages.

Every five years, the water industry regulator Ofwat sets the prices water companies can charge customers for the services they provide. These prices were published in November 2009 and for United Utilities to meet the expectations set by Ofwat, we will have to make a number of substantial cost efficiencies between 2010 and 2015. This is exacerbated by the on-going cost pressures brought about by the continuing economic downturn.   Consequently, we have taken the very difficult decision to end the provision of our classroom based education service by March 31st 2010.

Some of the materials that we use will be put onto this website and we hope you will be able to make use of these in the absence of a visit to our classroom.

The centres are still available for you to contact directly on the number below untill the end of March 2010.
